Privileges and Immunities for Diplomatic Missions and Foreign Offices
In accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, relevant bilateral agreements, established international practices, the principles of reciprocity, as well as laws, regulations and practices of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), privileges and immunities are accorded to staff members of Diplomatic Missions and Foreign Offices (DMFOs) to facilitate the efficient performance of their official functions.
This guide is intended to assist staff members of DMFOs by providing information on the procedures for applying for the privileges and immunities granted to them. For matters not covered herein, DMFOs are encouraged to contact the Privilege Section of the Department of Protocol (Tel: (02)2348-2248/Email: privilege@mofa.gov.tw) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
