Vehicle license plates for Diplomatic Missions or Foreign Offices (DMFOs) and its eligible staff members, whether for official or personal use, are available in two types: “使” and “外.” The type of plate issued is determined based on the principle of reciprocity.
I. For Duty-free Imported Vehicles
To apply for vehicle license plates for duty-free imported vehicles, a note verbale or official letter shall be submitted enclosed with the following:
1. Three (3) completed copies of the New Vehicle License Plate Registration Form;
2. A copy of the vehicle’s Customs Duty Payment/Exemption Certificate for Vehicles issued by the R.O.C Customs Office;
3. A copy of the applicant's MOFA ID Card:
(1) Head of mission’s, for official use.
(2) Eligible staff member’s, for personal use.
II. For Domestically Purchased Vehicles in Taiwan
To apply for vehicle license plates for domestically purchased vehicles in Taiwan, a note verbale or official letter shall be submitted enclosed with the following:
1. Three (3) completed copies of the New Vehicle License Plate Registration Form.
2. A copy of the vehicle’s Commodity Tax Payment/Exemption Certificate;
3. A copy of the vehicle purchase receipt;
4. A copy of the applicant's MOFA ID Card:
(1) Head of mission’s, for official use.
(2) Eligible staff member’s, for personal use.
