The Treaties between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Foreign States series was launched in 1957. Volume 25, released in October 2024, comprises treaties and agreements signed with other countries and international organizations concerning cooperation in such domains as legal affairs; agriculture; technology; the economy, trade, and investment; air services; and public health and medical care. The series is available to the public at the National Central Library and the National Library of Public Information.
Volume 25 compiles 62 treaties and agreements signed between 2022 and 2023. A number of these instruments focus on human rights, as well as collaboration on such issues as coast guard affairs, law enforcement, legal assistance, forensic pathology, transfer of convicted offenders, disaster prevention, traditional medicine, food and drug administration, and various support funds.
To promote cultural diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) participates in Archives Month activities, which start in November and can extend for up to a year. During this time, major libraries, including the National Central Library and the National Library of Public Information, hold special exhibitions on the Treaties series. Kaohsiung Public Library is also planning to hold a similar exhibition this year. Through such events, MOFA hopes to enhance the public’s understanding of Taiwan’s diplomatic efforts, in particular the conclusion of treaties and agreements.
Documents from the Treaties series can be found on the following MOFA website: http://no06.mofa.gov.tw/mofatreatys/IndexE.aspx. The collection can also be purchased from government publication booksellers, including the website www.govbooks.com.tw. The Ministry of Justice has uploaded each agreement separately to the online Laws and Regulations Database of the Republic of China (Taiwan) https://law.moj.gov.tw/Eng/Index.aspx.
