MOFA extends sincere condolences and sympathies to Indonesia on the fatal March 3 Plumpang fuel storage depot fire

A fire broke out at the Plumpang fuel storage depot, operated by Indonesian state-owned energy company Pertamina, in North Jakarta on the evening of March 3. The fire caused an explosion and spread to nearby residential areas, claiming the lives of at least 17 people and injuring over 50 more.
 
Today, on behalf of Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, the Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) conveyed the sincere condolences of the people and government of Taiwan to Deputy Representative Zulmartinof of the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei (IETO Taipei). IETO Taipei thanked Taiwan for its concern. 
 
According to initial details available to the Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) in Jakarta, no Taiwanese expatriates or nationals have been reported among the dead or injured. TETO will continue to closely monitor the situation.
