The Halifax International Security Forum (HFX) has announced that it will hold the HFX TAIPEI forum from January 21 to 23, 2022, in Taipei in association with Taiwan’s Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) welcomes HFX’s announcement.

HFX is widely recognized as a key global forum for democracies to discuss security issues and strengthen strategic cooperation. In May 2021, HFX announced that President Tsai Ing-wen had been awarded the 2020 John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service, recognizing the achievements of President Tsai and the Taiwanese people in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and safeguarding democracy.

HFX TAIPEI will be HFX’s first major meeting in Asia, highlighting Taiwan’s position as one of Asia’s most vibrant democracies. MOFA will closely coordinate with HFX and the INDSR to ensure the event’s success and facilitate cooperation with like-minded partners and friends from around the world so as to defend the values of freedom and democracy.
