MOFA urges nationals to leave Ukraine in light of that nation’s continued tensions with Russia

February 12, 2022

Given increased tensions along Ukraine’s border with Russia and the possibility that they will be further inflamed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) calls on R.O.C. (Taiwan) nationals to avoid travel to Ukraine. MOFA also urges the approximately 25 nationals working or studying in Ukraine to depart as soon as possible. Nationals requiring assistance should call the emergency hotline at +7-969-008-6111 to reach the Representative Office in Moscow, which has purview over Ukrainian affairs, or +380-44-537-0982 to communicate with the Taiwan Trade Center in Kyiv.

The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) again calls on all parties to respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Taiwan opposes any unilateral changes to the status quo by force, and it asks related countries to resolve differences and conflicts through peaceful and rational dialogue so as to jointly maintain regional and global peace and stability as well as the rules-based international order.
