The White House on August 17 issued a joint leaders’ statement on the anniversary of the Trilateral Leaders’ Summit held by the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea at Camp David. The statement emphasized further deepening the trilateral partnership in such domains as security, technology, and economics based on the principles established at the 2023 Camp David summit. It also reaffirmed the three countries’ resolve to maintain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific, remain aligned in their shared vision, and stand ready to meet the world’s greatest challenges.
Indo-Pacific security is an issue of common concern and importance to the international community. Joint statements issued at recent multilateral and bilateral events have stressed the importance of preserving peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and opposing changes to the status quo. These events have included the US-Japan-ROK Indo-Pacific Dialogue, US-Japan-ROK defense ministers’ trilateral meeting, US-Japan-Philippines summit, US-EU High-Level Consultations on the Indo-Pacific, Australia-US Ministerial Consultations, and US-Italy and US-Japan summits. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) underlines that Taiwan is an indispensable member of the Indo-Pacific that will continue to work with the United States, Japan, the ROK, and other like-minded partners to jointly safeguard peace, stability, and prosperity across the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific.
