Israel and the Palestinian military group Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire from November 24 to 27 that saw Hamas release 24 hostages on the first day, with plans to free a second group the following day, and allowed humanitarian aid to gradually enter Gaza. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) welcomes and commends these developments.
MOFA applauds the United States, Qatar, and Egypt for brokering the agreement, and hopes that the mutual trust it creates will serve as a foundation for continued efforts to release all the hostages. MOFA urges members of the international community to cooperate to rid the region and the world of the threat of terrorism and promote long-term peace and stability. (E)
