No. 068
The ROC government regrets that, on April 22, more than 100 parliamentarians representing all political parties in Japan gathered to pay homage at the Yasukuni Shrine during its spring festival, held between April 21 and 23.
In a year that marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the ROC government wants to reiterate that the suffering of the past must not be forgotten, and calls on political figures in Japan to learn the lessons of history, engage in deep introspection, and not take actions that offend the sensibilities of people in neighboring countries. The ROC government urges Japan to take a more forward-looking and responsible stance, help heal the wounds of the past, strive to promote friendly relations with its neighbors, and enhance peace and stability in the region and beyond.
