At the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Sergio Divina, Vice President of the Committee on Defense of the Italian Senate, will lead a three-person delegation to Taiwan from May 28 to 31, 2014.
The delegation is to have an audience with Vice President Wu Den-yih, and will also meet with Deputy Finance Minister Wu Tang-chieh; and Chang Guey-hsin, Director of the National Space Organization; Ma Shaw-chang, Deputy Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation; Ho Chuan-hsing, Deputy Director of the National Palace Museum. The delegation is to also attend a celebration of Italy’s National Day organized by the Italian Economic, Trade, and Culture Promotion Office. President of the Legislative Yuan Wang Jin-pyng and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vanessa Y. P. Shih will host luncheons in their honor.
This will mark Sen. Divina’s third visit to Taiwan. The Senator has spared no effort in support of Taiwan’s participation in international organizations. This trip aims to provide him and his delegation a better understanding of recent developments in Taiwan in the areas of politics, the economy, and cross-strait relations, while enhancing economic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Italy.
