The R.O.C. (Taiwan) congratulates diplomatic ally Tuvalu on successful completion of parliamentary election

Tuvalu, a diplomatic ally of the Republic of China (Taiwan), held an election on January 26 to choose its 16 members of parliament. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sincerely congratulates the people of Tuvalu for completing the general election through an open, transparent, and peaceful democratic process.

On behalf of the government and people of Taiwan, R.O.C. (Taiwan) Ambassador to Tuvalu Andrew Lin promptly expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Governor-General Tofiga Vaevalu Falani and the newly elected members of parliament. Ambassador Lin also forwarded a message from President Tsai Ing-wen to Governor-General Falani congratulating Tuvalu on the successful completion of the election.

The R.O.C. (Taiwan) and Tuvalu share the universal values of democracy, freedom, and respect for human rights and have maintained stable and friendly ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago. Taiwan has advanced a number of projects in agricultural technology, medicine, public health, clean energy, and ICT, which have substantially benefited the people of Tuvalu. In the future, Taiwan will continue to bolster cooperation with Tuvalu on issues of concern, such as climate change adaption and narrowing the development gaps among Tuvalu’s islands, for the well-being, mutual benefit, and coprosperity of the peoples of both nations.
