On April 7, Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs published its 2015 Diplomatic Bluebook, in which it falsely claimed the Diaoyutai Islands as Japan’s inherent territory. In response, the ROC government lodged stern protests, reiterating its consistent and firm stance on ROC sovereignty over the islands.
Appertaining to Taiwan, the Diaoyutai Islands are an inherent part of ROC territory. As such, the ROC government will continue to vigorously defend its sovereignty over the islands. Any attempt to undermine its sovereignty is invalid and futile. The ROC government calls on all parties concerned to adhere to the East China Sea Peace Initiative by shelving territory disputes and maintaining regional peace and stability through dialogue and cooperation.（E）
