The Republic of China government expressed its deep condolences to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following the passing of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
The loss of their outstanding leader has profoundly impacted the people of Saudi Arabia. During his 10-year reign, the king spared no effort to better ensure the livelihood of his people, while striving to spur his kingdom’s economic development, upgrade women’s social status, and stabilize regional peace and security. King Abdullah was greatly loved in his own country and throughout the Arab world.
Taiwan enjoyed good relations with Saudi Arabia during King Abdullah’s reign and will miss him dearly.
In accordance with domestic law, King Abdullah was succeeded by Prince Salman, who has always shown Taiwan goodwill and promoted bilateral cooperation. It is expected that the countries will continue to work together to further enhance bilateral relations in the years ahead. (E)
