Dr. Arnošt Marks, Deputy Vice Prime Minister for Research, Development and Innovation of the Czech Republic, will lead a five-member delegation to the Republic of China (Taiwan) from December 7 to 10, 2014, at the invitation of the ROC government. The other members of the Czech delegation are Prof. Eva Syková, Senator and First Vice Chairperson of the R&D Council; Dr. Tomáš Novotný, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade; Dr. Jan Konvalinka, Vice Rector for Research of Charles University in Prague; and Prof. Josef Lazar, member of the Academy Council of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The delegation will call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Academia Sinica, and the National Applied Research Laboratories. In addition, the delegation will visit the Taiwan Design Center, Hsinchu Science Park, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the Development Center for Biotechnology. They will also tour various places of interest such as the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101.

This trip will provide the delegation members with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the most recent economic, social, industrial and technological developments in Taiwan. It will also help promote exchanges between Taiwan and the Czech Republic in such areas as IT software and hardware R&D, biomedicine, precision instruments, laboratory equipment, and innovative design.
