In his remarks, Minister Lin stated that the two nations shared a staunch and solid diplomatic alliance, having achieved remarkable success through joint endeavors in such areas as public health, medicine, infrastructure, agricultural technology, and talent training. He added that Taiwan would continue to promote bilateral collaboration in line with the priorities of Guatemala President Bernardo Arévalo’s administration. Congress President Ramos thanked the Taiwan government for meticulously planning all aspects of his itinerary. He reaffirmed that the 90 years of solid diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Guatemala were founded on their shared values of democracy and freedom and respect for human rights. Thanking Taiwan for its long-standing assistance across various domains, he also expressed the hope that the two countries could continue to deepen collaboration in such areas as healthcare, technology, and infrastructure. President Ramos presented Minister Lin with a copy of a resolution adopted by the Guatemala Congress supporting Taiwan’s participation in international organizations. He emphasized that the Guatemala Congress was firmly committed to backing Taiwan’s related efforts and expressed confidence that the two countries could forge ahead together toward greater prosperity and development based on their long-term friendship.
