Foreign Minister Wu extends condolences on shooting incident in Prague, Czech Republic

A shooting incident occurred at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts in Prague, Czech Republic, at around 3 p.m. on December 21 local time, leaving 15 people dead (including the shooter) and 24 injured. On behalf of President Tsai Ing-wen, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jaushieh Joseph Wu has extended condolences to Representative David Steinke of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

 

Thus far, no Taiwanese nationals have been reported to be among the casualties. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Prague has activated the emergency response mechanism and maintained close contact with the Czech police.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) urges Taiwan nationals overseas to remain vigilant and heed their personal safety. In the event of an emergency, they can call the emergency hotline of relevant overseas missions or have family or friends in Taiwan call MOFA’s toll-free emergency hotline (0800-085-095) to seek timely assistance.
