The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) appreciates the public messages of support for Taiwan by numerous Members of the US Senate and House of Representatives following a recent speech by the Chinese leader in which he advocated applying the concept of “one country, two systems” to Taiwan.
In Twitter messages posted on January 4, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), Representative and Co-Chair of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), as well as Representatives Ted Yoho (R-FL), Don Bacon (R-NE), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Steve King (R-IA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), criticized China for threatening Taiwan and undermining regional stability, called on China to resume peaceful and constructive dialogue with Taiwan, and expressed the US Congress's firm and unwavering support for Taiwan.
