In the US Department of State's 2015 Trafficking in Persons Report released on July 27, Taiwan earned the highest Tier 1 ranking for the sixth consecutive year, affirming once again Taiwan’s consolidated efforts to prevent human trafficking.

Taiwan’s actions to prevent human trafficking are orchestrated by an anti-human trafficking coordination committee under the Executive Yuan. It not only coordinates the various ministries’ efforts, but also works closely with related nongovernmental organizations to this end. Since enacting and promulgating the Human Trafficking Prevention Act in 2009, the National Immigration Agency has published the ROC Trafficking in Persons Report each year to highlight the country’s associated achievements. In the future, Taiwan will continue to cooperate with the United States to prevent and combat human trafficking crimes on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States and the American Institute in Taiwan on the Dissemination and Exchange of Information Relating to Human Smuggling and Trafficking.

The ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciates the US Department of State’s affirmation of Taiwan’s achievements in preventing human trafficking. Taiwan will keep abreast of the experiences of other countries to improve both its public and private sector efforts to strengthen related cooperation, thereby demonstrating Taiwan’s commitment to human rights.
