US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis on the afternoon of March 6 at the US Department of State. In the joint statement they issued after the meeting, they reaffirmed efforts to strengthen Lithuania’s economic partnership with Taiwan, endorse Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, and counter China’s economic coercion. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) sincerely welcomes and appreciates the pro-Taiwan content of the statement.

MOFA has consistently adopted an open and pragmatic approach toward actively engaging with like-minded partners around the world and seeking opportunities to enhance substantive bilateral cooperation.

Taiwan and Lithuania share a partnership based on the values and ideals of democracy and freedom. Both stand on the strategic front lines in defense of democracy, one in Asia and one in Europe. Taiwan has always welcomed international attention to the situation across the Taiwan Strait and appreciates measures by the international community that are conducive to maintaining regional peace and stability. Taiwan is also willing to work with like-minded nations across the globe to jointly safeguard the rules-based international order.
