On March 2, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) formally announced that Ms. Laura Rosenberger will serve as its next chairperson. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) sincerely welcomes Ms. Rosenberger’s appointment to this key position in Taiwan-US relations.

Ms. Rosenberger is a senior US diplomat and national security official, having served in prominent positions at the Department of State and the White House’s National Security Council (NSC). In her most recent role as NSC senior director for China and Taiwan, she has frequently exchanged views with the government of Taiwan on important Taiwan-US issues. Ms. Rosenberger is well versed in Indo-Pacific and global affairs. She previously served as chief of staff to then Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, senior advisor to then Deputy National Security Advisor Blinken, NSC director for China and Korea, chief of the Bilateral Political Unit on the State Department’s China Desk, and special assistant to then Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Bill Burns.

Taiwan and the United States share common ideals and objectives in upholding regional peace, stability, and prosperity and defending such core values as democracy and human rights. Based on these solid foundations, MOFA is confident that with Ms. Rosenberger’s wealth of experience, the comprehensive and close Taiwan-US partnership will be further elevated. (E)
