The third Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue (EPPD) was held on December 15 in a hybrid format, allowing for in-person and virtual participation in real time in Taipei and Washington, DC. The Taiwanese delegation was headed by Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua, while the United States was represented by Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez, who joined the meeting online. US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs Tony Fernandes led a delegation to Taiwan for in-person participation. The physical event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tsai Ming-yen, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Chern-chyi, and officials from related Taiwanese government agencies.

Taiwan and the United States held in-depth discussions on economic coercion, supply chain resilience, secure energy transition, and other issues of common concern. They also engaged in extensive exchanges on how to identify areas for future cooperation and strengthen the sharing of information. Both sides deemed the dialogue productive and successful and expressed their hope to further deepen economic cooperation and bolster bilateral economic partnership through the EPPD mechanism.

The first EPPD was convened on November 20, 2020, and the second on November 23, 2021. The platform allows Taiwan and the United States to regularly exchange views on economic policy cooperation. The success of the third EPPD underscores the fact that Taiwan and the United States are favored economic and trade partners. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work with related ministries to further enhance bilateral dialogue and advance economic cooperation and partnership between Taiwan and the United States.
