The Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24 shocked the world. On behalf of the Republic of China (Taiwan) government, MOFA promptly issued a solemn statement condemning Russia and joining the international democratic community in imposing economic sanctions. To fulfill its duty as a responsible member of the international community, and in the spirit of Taiwan can help, Taiwan is further extending humanitarian assistance to the more than one million Ukrainians who may be forced to flee their homeland. On February 28, the Taiwan government also sent an urgent shipment of 27 tons of medical supplies to Europe. (E)
