Prof. Eva Zažímalová, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences, is leading a seven-member delegation on a visit to Taiwan from April 22 to 27, 2018 at the invitation of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its welcome of the visit.

The visit will promote exchanges in science and technology and boost bilateral cooperation. The delegation will call at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Academia Sinica, the Industrial Technology Research Institute, National Taiwan University, and National Cheng Kung University. Delegation members will also attend a luncheon in their honor hosted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs François Chih-Chung Wu. Other sites of economic and cultural interest the delegation will visit include Confucius Temple and Chihkan Tower in Tainan and Taipei 101.

Taiwan and the Czech Republic enjoy a close partnership. On October 4, 2017, Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Czech Academy of Sciences signed a memorandum of understanding in Prague to cooperate in such fields as machinery, green energy, information and communications technology, as well as biomedicine. This will help the two countries’ professionals conduct research in each other’s country, boost research into and development of management skills, and promote exchanges between scientific and technological communities and industries. Prof. Zažímalová’s visit will further advance bilateral collaboration on science and technology.(E)
