Mr. Joseph Souza, Chairman of the Taiwan Relations Committee of the House of Assembly of the Kingdom of Swaziland, visits Taiwan

Mr. Joseph Souza, Chairman of the Taiwan Relations Committee of the House of Assembly of the Kingdom of Swaziland, will lead a six-member committee delegation on a visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) from August 16 to 20, 2015.

The delegation will call at the Legislative Yuan, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Swaziland, the Council of Agriculture, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, the Kaohsiung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, and the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park. In addition, it will visit the Southern Taiwan Science Park, the Syntrend Creative Park, and the Taipei 101. ROC Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Simon S. Y. Ko will host a luncheon to welcome the Chairman Souza and the delegation, in the meanwhile, both parties will exchange views on the development of bilateral relations between Taiwan and Swaziland.

Through the aforementioned program, as well as meetings with various ROC government officials. Chairman Souza will be visiting Taiwan for the first time, and shall gain a better understanding of the current development of Taiwan’s agricultural, biotechnology, and telecommunication industries. This visit will advance further cooperation in related fields between the two countries.

Swaziland has been a staunch ally of the ROC in Africa, the two countries have enjoyed a strong friendship since 1968, with frequent mutual visits between high-level officials. Moreover, the Swazi government has firmly supported Taiwan’s bid to achieve meaningful participation in such organizations and mechanisms as the World Health Assembly, the International Civil Aviation Organization, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
