Poland held parliamentary elections on October 15. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expresses its sincere congratulations on the successful completion of the elections and looks forward to cooperating with the new government to continue to advance friendly bilateral relations.
Taiwan and Poland are like-minded countries and have always staunchly defended the shared values of democracy, freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. Both nations are also mutually trustworthy partners.
People from all sectors of Taiwan and Poland cooperate closely in domains such as the economy, trade, judicial matters, education, culture, biotechnology, and health care, as well as engaging in exchanges related to semiconductors, information security, and pandemic prevention. In recent years, memorandums of understanding have been signed on electric vehicles, hydrogen energy, good laboratory practices, and technology research and development.
In April, Poland’s Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentarian Group unanimously passed a resolution to issue a joint statement supporting Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations, including the World Health Organization. The group also expressed serious concerns about China’s military exercises in the areas around Taiwan. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Polish government donated 400,000 doses of vaccines to Taiwan to help combat the virus. After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, Taiwan and Poland also collaborated to assist with the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees in Poland, fully demonstrating solidarity and friendship among like-minded countries.
MOFA looks forward to working with the new government of Poland and, on the basis of the existing solid foundation, hopes to continue deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in all domains, as well as jointly promoting global and regional peace, stability, and sustainable prosperity. (E)
