TheEuropeanParliamentonJanuary21votedtoadoptresolutionsconcerningtheannualreportsontheimplementationoftheEuropeanUnionCommonForeignandSecurityPolicyCFSPandCommonSecurityandDefencePolicyCSDP.TheresolutionsonceagainvoicedoppositiontoChina’sdistortionofUNGeneralAssemblyResolution2758andunilateralattemptstochangethestatusquoacrosstheTaiwanStraitthroughforceorcoercion.TheyalsolentsupportforfurtherdeepeningcomprehensiveTaiwan-EUcooperationandexchanges.MinisterofForeignAffairsLinChia-lungsincerelywelcomesandappreciatestheseresolutions.  TheCFSPresolutionreiteratedthatChina’sterritorialclaimsoverTaiwanhadnobasisininternationallaw,thatneitherTaiwannorChinawassubordinatetotheother,andthatonlyTaiwan’sdemocraticallyelectedgovernmentcouldrepresentthepeopleofTaiwan.ItfurthercondemnedChina’smilitaryexerciseslastyear,includingStraitThunder-2025AandJusticeMission2025,forthreateningpeaceandstabilityacrosstheTaiwanStraitaswellasadjacentinternationalwaters.TheresolutionalsoexpressedconcernoverChina’sescalatingcoercionagainstTaiwanthroughpolitical,economic,military,cyber,andcognitivemeasures.ItemphasizedthatTaiwanwasakeydemocraticpartnerfortheEuropeanUnionintheIndo-PacificregionandurgedtheEUanditsmemberstatestoengageinclosercooperationwithTaiwaninordertofurtherboosteconomic,trade,andinvestmentties.
