Notes from the First 2020 Meeting of the MOFA Human Rights Task Force

The Human Rights Task Force held its first meeting of 2020 on March 25. The Task Force serves as a coordinator for reporting on international human rights issues for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). At the meeting, the following resolutions were passed:
1. Statistics related to the Third National Reports on the Implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights were updated through December 2019. Chinese language content created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be uploaded to the MOFA website's page on Human Rights Affairs, a subset of its Government Information page. The full text of these reports can be found via a link to a website managed by the Ministry of Justice. This is a blueprint civil society is invited to make suggestions on.
2. The 2019 US Country Report on Human Rights Practices for Taiwan looks favorably on Taiwan's efforts to protect human rights. Related departments have been instructed to draft a list of Taiwan's human rights achievements.
3. The next meeting was set for June 2020.
