(As Prepared for Delivery)
Honorable Ministers and Senators;
Traditional leaders;
Distinguished members of the business community;
Esteemed guests;
Ladies and gentlemen:
Good afternoon! Iakwe aolep!
I am honored to join you for the Jenrok Sports Complex commemorative plaque unveiling ceremony. We have gathered here today to pay tribute to this remarkable achievement. It is a testament to what is possible when shared determination meets enduring partnership.
The construction of this facility was a challenging undertaking because it coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, through joint efforts, the project steadily advanced. The Jenrok Sports Complex now stands as a monument to the resilience and mutual commitment that define our bilateral ties.
At the 2024 Micronesian Games, this important facility hosted athletes and visitors from across the region. Beyond spreading goodwill, the games brought a sense of renewed vitality and solidarity to Micronesian peoples. Taiwan was pleased to collaborate with the Marshall Islands on this project, promoting sports diplomacy and nurturing the next generation of Marshallese athletes.
Moments ago, drones carrying celebratory messages added a touch of innovation to today’s ceremony, symbolizing Taiwan’s aspiration to work with the Marshall Islands to further drone diplomacy. We aim to apply this technology to maritime surveillance, search and rescue, disaster response, and fisheries protection to strengthen the resilience of Pacific partners.
As we unveil the memorial plaque, we reflect on the challenges that we navigated together, reaffirm our steadfast bilateral friendship, and celebrate the benefits that this facility continues to bring to the people of the Marshall Islands. Thank you! Kommol tata!
