In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, MOFA donated 500,000 surgical masks to Canada April 22. The Canadian central government will receive 400,000 masks, and 50,000 will go to Ontario Province, 25,000 to Alberta Province, and 25,000 to British Columbia. While the bulk of the donation will be used to assist Canada’s frontline medical personnel, a portion of it will be provided to Canada’s indigenous communities, as requested by MOFA. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Li-jey Tsao presented the donation to Executive Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei Jordan Reeves at MOFA headquarters. Executive Director Reeves expressed deep gratitude for Taiwan’s provision of masks to help Canada’s medical personnel and indigenous people fight COVID-19. (E)
