Considering that Taiwan and Italy continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges in domains including the economy, trade, culture, education, science, technology, and tourism, the Republic of China (Taiwan) will establish the Ufficio di Rappresentanza di Taipei in Italia-Ufficio di Milano (Milan Office of the Taipei Representative Office in Italy) to further enhance substantive bilateral relations. Preparations are currently underway.

Many countries from around the world have consulates general in Milan. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council runs the Taiwan Trade Center in Milan to promote Taiwanese products. Moreover, Taiwanese companies such as semiconductor manufacturer GlobalWafers operate facilities in Milan and neighboring cities. On October 25, 2022, EVA Air launched nonstop service between Taipei and Milan. The Milan Office will be well positioned to respond to the strong demand for business travel brought about by direct flights and will help advance and bolster Taiwan-Italy economic and trade exchanges.

The Milan Office will serve the needs of business travelers, tourists, and the overseas Taiwanese community, as well as providing emergency assistance to Taiwanese citizens, in the eight administrative regions of northern Italy. Working closely with the Taipei Representative Office in Rome, the Milan Office looks to comprehensively enhance substantive relations between Taiwan and Italy at all levels and provide even better service to Taiwanese citizens and overseas compatriots in Italy.
