R.O.C. (Taiwan) government announces increase of disaster relief funds to Türkiye to US$2 million and opening of special relief donation account

The magnitude of the disaster from the earthquake that hit southern Türkiye near the Syrian border in the early morning of February 6 has continued to expand and the number of casualties has further risen. To assist in speeding the recovery of affected areas, the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has announced that it will increase its donation of disaster relief funds to the Turkish government to US$2 million. The funds will further assist the government in resettling affected people and enabling them to resume normal life as early as possible.

Immediately after the earthquake, the R.O.C. (Taiwan) government dispatched an international search and rescue team to Türkiye to assist local efforts. It has also opened accounts to accept donations by nationals concerned about the disaster. Depending on Türkiye’s recovery needs, the government will also work with nongovernmental organizations at home and abroad to provide daily necessities and material supplies to survivors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will update the public at appropriate times regarding the use of donations.
