MP Claude Adam, Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is leading a three-member Green Party delegation to Taiwan from February 11 to 15 at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The visit will give the delegation a better understanding of recent economic, political, and cross-strait developments, as well as Taiwan’s green energy and environmental protection industries, and sustainable development policy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the visit by the delegation.

The delegation will call at the Legislative Yuan, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Environmental Protection Administration, National Development Council, Mainland Affairs Council, Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, and Taiwan Circular Economy Network. The delegation will attend a luncheon held in their honor by MOFA and visit other sites of cultural and economic interest, such as the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu Science Park, National Palace Museum, and Taipei 101.

To promote bilateral relations, the Luxembourg government established the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office Taipei in October 2009. In August 2010, Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission and Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier signed a memorandum on cooperation in financial supervision and management. In December 2011, Taiwan’s Taxation Administration and Luxembourg’s Administration des Contributions Directes signed a double taxation avoidance agreement.

Other members of the delegation include Roberto Traversini, Vice Chairperson of Luxembourg parliament’s Appeal Committee, and Sven Schiltz, a Green Party Policy Adviser. (E)
